A custom closet system can transform 1-2 m² of awkward space into 4× the storage. The catch: it has to fit precisely. Five measurements give a designer everything needed for a first proposal.

Schritt für Schritt
- Internal width. Wall to wall, at three heights (top, middle, bottom). Old houses are not square.
- Internal depth. Front of opening to back wall. Note any pipes or built-in jutting into the space.
- Internal height. Floor to ceiling. Note if there's a step or threshold at the entrance.
- Door opening. Width and height of the door opening separately from the internal closet. Closets with hinged doors have less usable depth.
- Electrical and light. Outlet positions, ceiling light position. Most closet systems work around these, note exact locations.
Tipps
- Walk-in closets benefit from corner systems, measure both diagonal and orthogonal
- Floor often slopes toward door for drainage, closets aren't perfectly square
