How to Measure for a Dishwasher
Cabinet opening width is the critical number, but ventilation, water connection, and door clearance also matter. Five quick checks.
Most dishwashers are 60 cm wide (full size) or 45 cm (slim). Cabinets are built to one of these dimensions. The other measurements that get people in trouble: door swing clearance, water line position, and venting height.
なぜ測るのか
- Confirm cabinet width matches 60 cm or 45 cm spec
- Door swings 90+ degrees, need front clearance
- Water and drain lines must reach the appliance
- Integrated models need exact panel dimensions
必要なもの
- iPhone with Ruler AR
- Length mode
- The model's spec PDF
ステップごとに
- Cabinet opening. Width: side wall to side wall. Most cabinets are 60 cm. Slim cabinets 45 cm. Depth: front of cabinet to back wall. Height: floor to underside of countertop (typically 82 cm).
- Front clearance. Door swings down 90°. Tap from front of cabinet to nearest obstacle (island, opposite wall). Need 80+ cm.
- Water line position. Photograph the under-sink area. Measure height and distance from wall, must reach the dishwasher's rear connection.
- Drain line. Most dishwashers drain through a hose into the sink drain. Confirm hose can reach.
- Power outlet. Standard 230V outlet near the cabinet, ideally to the side (not behind the dishwasher).
コツ
- Integrated dishwashers take a cabinet panel, measure panel thickness too
- New build cabinets are usually exactly 60 cm, older custom cabinets may be 58-62 cm
よくある間違い
- Buying full-size when cabinet is slim (45 cm), won't fit
- Forgetting front clearance for door swing
